About

WHAT IS ARTSIPOP?

What do you get when you take an artist/graphic designer and make him a father? You get a right-brained, arty, tech-head who can’t keep his mouth shut about things. When my wife and I finally decided to have a baby, I never knew how much I would embrace the idea of being a father. From the time we started trying to get pregnant, I immediately started taking more notice of the other young kids in our family. I’d hold a baby or play with a toddler and I was really pining for one of my own. Somewhere in early October of 2009, we finally had success after 9 months of trying. At this point, we’re still waiting on the arrival of our boy with an estimated arrival of July 2nd, 2010.

This site is about documenting my journey as I grow as a father along with our child. On top of that, I’ll be talking about my art and design, the work of others, things I find interesting; all with a little bit of snark and lots of self-deprecation.

WHO AM I?

My name is Dave. I’m an art director for an automotive enthusiast magazine by day, artist and illustrator by night. My aspiration is to work from home as an artist and designer of things, but that’s at least a year or more in the future. I’ve spent the last 13 years in the design industry working in boutique agencies, as a freelance designer and finally the art director I am now.

My art is in a state of flux. You can see some of my previous abstract work on my Etsy Shop. If you’d like to talk to me about commissioning an original art piece for your home or office, drop me an email: dave [at] artsipop [dot] com.
